MARION, Ill. - The anchor in the middle of the lineup and at the hot corner, Missouri S&T's Cole Hampton (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) was selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference first team on its all-conference squad announced Wednesday evening at the awards ceremony preceding the start of the GLVC Tournament.

Hampton earned the honor after leading the Miners in several offensive categories, including a batting average of .353, 11 home runs and 92 total bases while also driving in 53 runs that ranked second on the squad.  He is fifth in the GLVC in runs batted in and tied for eighth in home runs.

In addition, Hampton also led S&T with a .676 slugging percentage which ranks ninth among all GLVC hitters and OPS of 1.179 which ranks sixth in the conference.

Earlier this season, Hampton tied the program's single-game record with eight runs batted in during a victory over Quincy, who will be the Miners' first round opponent Thursday in the GLVC Tournament.  Hampton also finished the regular season with a .920 fielding percentage.

Missouri S&T also selected Scott Henrich (West Bend, WI/West Bend) as this year's Miners' nominee for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award, which honors student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Each institution's honoree is eligible to become one of their school's Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
