BOLIVAR, Mo. – Missouri S&T's baseball team completed a four-game series sweep over Southwest Baptist Saturday with a 12-3 victory, completing a series in which it outscored the Bearcats 59-15 and reached double figures in the win column in each of the last three contests.

Doug Wood (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) homered to lead off the ninth inning to become the all-time leader in career home runs with his 22, passing the mark previous held by Matt Bryant that had stood since 1998.
After being held scoreless in the first, S&T (18-15, 9-11 Great Lakes Valley Conference) got on the scoreboard in the second on a two-out RBI single to left from
Garrett Weiner (Alton, IL/Marquette). SBU answered in the bottom half on a two-run double by Mel Mulholland that gave the Bearcats their first lead in the series.
S&T answered back with three in the fourth, scoring first on an RBI single by
Dakota Sill (Lansing, KS/Lansing) that scored
Michael Hughes (St. Clair, MO/St. Clair). With runners on the corners,
Chase Burgess (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) scored on a balk by SBU starting pitcher Khalil V'azques Torres, then Wood doubled down the left field line to score Sill for the final run of the inning.
The Bearcats (7-27, 3-13 GLVC) got a run back in the bottom of the third to trim the lead to one, but it was all Miners after that. S&T extended its lead with two runs in the fourth, the first coming home on a two-run single to center by Hughes, then got two more in the sixth on a two-run single off the bat of
Sam Monroe (Moline, Ill./Moline).
S&T tacked on four more runs in the ninth which began with Wood's record-setting home run.
Cole Hampton (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) scored later in the inning on a wild pitch, then Weiner blasted a two-run home run over the wall in left center to complete the scoring.
Wood and Wiener had three hits apiece for the Miners and Weiner with three hits each as Weiner drove in three on the day.
Matthew Kaiser (St. Louis, MO/Vianney) pitched the first five innings and struck out seven to get credit for the win. S&T outhit the Bearcats 13-9 in the game.
The Miners will return to the Ballpark at S&T to face Pittsburg State on April 18 at 2 p.m.
