Nine firsts, school record highlight Miner day at Allgood Invitational

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's throwers were dominant on Saturday to highlight the Miner performances at the Dewey Allgood Invitational at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

S&T swept through the throwing events, getting the top six finishers in both the discus and hammer throws and was paced by a school record performance by Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw), who broke the mark for the second week in succession with a mark of 210-5 in the hammer.

Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) took second in the hammer at 184-7, while Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) placed third at 147-2.  The next three finishers were Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) with a mark of 146-4, Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) in fifth with a mark of 127-6 and Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) with a throw of 116-7.

Fraser won the discus with a throw of 169-2 that also made the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard, followed by Swadley at 163-1 and Marchert at 146-1 to take third.  The next three S&T finishers were Hoffman in fourth at 146-1, Luebbert at 140-8 to take fifth and Crouch finished sixth at 124-1.

The Miners also took the top four spots in the shot put, headed by Marchert's winning mark of 49-5¾.  Fraser took second at 48-6¼, while Luebbert was third at 47-8 and Crouch placed fourth with a mark of 46-3½.  S&T also went one-two in the 400-meter hurdles, with Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) winning in 55.40 seconds to edge Aaron Toben's (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) time of 55.46 and in the 200-meters, where Samuel Schmidt won in 22.01 seconds and Michael Pate (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) was second in 22.20.

S&T also had winning performances Saturday from Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:56.19, Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15 seconds flat, Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) in the high jump at 6-4¾ and Jake Anderson (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) in the pole vault when he cleared 14-7¼.

The Miners also got numerous second place finishes on the afternoon including from Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the javelin throw with a mark of 174-7, Zoran Rodriguez (Shawnee, KS/Bishop Miege) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 10:17.20, Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the long jump with a mark of 21-2 and Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) in the 110-hurdles in 15.42 seconds.

Second place performances also came courtesy of Dawson Sherer (Galena, MO/Galena) in the high jump with a clearance of 5-10¾, Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) in the 800-meters in 1:57.72, Noah Richardson (Hillsboro, MO/Grandview) in the triple Jump with a leap of 41-3¼ and Andrew Lofgren (Chesterfield, MO/Parkway West) in the 5,000-meters with a time of 15:12.61.

Rhet Liley (Jackson, MO/Jackson) took third in the javelin with a throw of 167-6 as did Aaron Geissinger (Abilene, KS/Abilene) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 10:18.31, Noah Richardson (Hillsboro, MO/Grandview) in the long jump with a leap of 20-9¼, Kamden Lockwood (Herscher, IL/Herscher) in the high jump as he cleared 5-10¾ and Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) in the pole vault with a mark of 13-1½.

Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson) was fourth in the long jump with his leap of 20-3¾ and the 110-hurdles in 15.91 seconds, as did Lockwood in the pole vault at 12-1¾ and Kael Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) was fourth in the 400-meters in 53.93 seconds, while fifth place finishes went to Aidan Byrne (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High) in the 400-meters in 55.83 seconds and Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) was fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-10¾ and in the pole vault as he cleared 12-1¾.

Kamden Lockwood (Herscher, IL/Herscher) and Christopher Holland tied for fifth in the 110-hurdles with times of 16.02 seconds and S&T's 4x400-meter relay team also finished in fifth place in 3:46.62.
