BOLIVAR, Mo. – Missouri S&T got first place finishes from
Jake Anderson (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) and
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) on Saturday and also got a new NCAA Division II provisional mark as well as an improved one during the Southwest Baptist Invitational.
Anderson won the pole vault for the second straight week as he cleared 15-5 in the event, while Rackers won the 5,000-meters in 14:59.03, passing Missouri Western's Kayden Crigger on the final lap to win by just over four seconds.
On Friday,
Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) finished second in the shot put with a mark of 58-7¾ to better his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, while
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) also reached a provisional mark in the hammer throw with a mark of 197-2.
S&T had four of the top seven finishers in the steeplechase, paced by
Andrew Lofgren's (Chesterfield, MO/Parkway West) second place showing in 9:36.74.
Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) finished third in 9:40.67,
Spencer Teske (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) sixth in 10:14.80 and
Zoran Rodriguez (Shawnee, KS/Bishop Miege) took seventh in 10:14.86
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.78 seconds, one spot ahead of
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) who posted a time of 15.25 seconds, while
Aaron Toben (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) also had a third place showing in the 400-meters hurdles with a time of 55.48 seconds and Samuel Schmidt was third in the 200-meters in 22.01 seconds.
After winning the 5,000, Rackers added a fifth place finish in the 1,500-meters in 4:01.62 and was part of the 4x400-meter relay team – joining Levi Frisbee,
Ashton Ventura (Joplin, MO/Joplin) and
Jonah Yates (Ballwin, MO/Parkway West) – that finished fifth in 3:20.84.
Swadley had a sixth place showing in the hammer throw at 180-8 and in the discus with a throw of 156-5, while
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 51-11¼.
Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) took seventh in the triple jump as he recorded a mark of 43-10½ as did Schmidt in the 100-meters in 10.89 seconds.
The Miners' top finish on the women's side Saturday came from Grace Giesler in the steeplechase, as she posted a time of 11:44.05 to finish less than two seconds in back of Pittsburg State's Erin Hammeke. Emma Puetz finished fourth in the 5,000-meters as she posted a time of 18:07.82, while Annmarie Tyson had a sixth place showing in the high jump as she cleared 5-1.
Elizabeth Rothweiler had a seventh place showing in the pole vault as she cleared 10-8 and Hope Strausbaugh was eighth in the steeplechase in 13:24.33. Maya Wright also finished among the top 10 in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing ninth in 1:08.29.
Missouri S&T will compete next Saturday at the Blue Tiger Invitational at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.
