S&T's 200-medley relay team places 10th at NCAA-II Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T got a 10th place finish from its 200-yard medley relay team on Wednesday night as it continues its week at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.

The Miners scored in a relay event for the second night in succession, as the team of Aidan Walters (Olathe, KS/Olathe East), Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton), Nate Baxter (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles North) and Connor Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) finished 10th in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:27.68.

Wiedemeier also competed in the morning session in the 50-yard freestyle and recorded a time of 20.66 seconds in his race.  S&T also had three in the 200-yard individual medley in the morning, with Baxter finishing with the top time among them as he completed his heat in 1:49.68.  Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) had a time of 1:51.11 and Jay Mercer (Kansas City, MO/Whitefield Academy) finished in 1:51.85.

In the team standings, the Miners are currently in 14th place with 22 points through the first full day of the meet.  Three teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference are among the top four, as Indianapolis leads with 121.5 points, McKendree sits in second place and Drury is currently fourth.

The second full day of competition will take place on Thursday, as the Miners will have five individuals in events and its 400-yard medley relay team of Clancy, Jordan Christensen (Coralville, IA/Iowa West), Baxter and Wiedemeier.  Baxter will also complete in the 100-yard butterfly and Wiedemeier will be joined by Walters in the 200-yard freestyle, while Bichsel and Mercer are scheduled to swim in the 400-yard individual medley.
