PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri S&T had three individuals make NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks Saturday in its season opening meet at the Crimson & Gold Invitational at Pittsburg State University.
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) made an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark as he placed second in the weight throw, recording a mark of 64-10, while
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) did likewise in the shot put as he posted a mark of 54-9¾ that earned him a fifth place finish.
The third provisional qualifier,
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill), wrapped up competition in the heptathlon as part of the Boo Rogers Multi-Events in 10
th place, posting a score of 5,031 points that also surpassed the mark needed by better than 300 points to make the provisional standard.
Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson) ended up in 15
th place in that competition with his score of 4,591 points.
Aside from the two provisional qualifiers,
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) had an eighth place showing in the 5,000-meters with a school record time of 14:32.59 -- 17 seconds faster than the previous record held by Brad Chronister -- and also finished ninth in the 800-meters in 1:54.40, while
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) was 10
th in the shot put with a mark of 50-5½.
Fraser finished just outside the top 10 in the weight throw with his top mark of 54-3, while
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) was 12
th in the 5,000-meters in 14:44.34.
The only member of the women's team to place in the top 10 in an event was Olivia Henkel, who finished in a tie for third in the open high jump as she cleared 5-5.
