ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's track & field team, which won the Great Lakes Valley Conference indoor and outdoor championships during the 2022-23 season, has been selected to win the indoor title again in 2024 in the pre-season coaches poll released by the GLVC today.  The S&T women's team was tabbed for a fifth place finish in the upcoming year.

The Miner men received 10 of a possible 12 first place votes and 138 points to edge Lewis for the top spot; the Flyers got two first place votes and finished with 132 points.  The only other team close to those two was Indianapolis, who received 124 points in the poll and was well ahead of William Jewell and Southwest Baptist, who tied for fourth with 87 points.

S&T's top returner for the upcoming season is thrower Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw), who earned All-America honors with a fourth place finish in the weight throw competition.  Luebbert was also the GLVC champion in the event, as was Samuel Schmidt in the 200-meters and Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) in the hepathlon.

The women's team was sixth at last year's indoor meet and returns Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro), the GLVC's Co-Freshman of the Year in the outdoor season to the roster.  S&T's sixth place finish last season was its best since ending up fourth in 2019.

Defending champion Lewis was picked to win the conference title again, with Indianapolis, Drury and Southwest Baptist all picked ahead of the Miners behind the Flyers in the rankings.

Missouri S&T's first meet of the season will take place on Dec. 8-9 at the Crimson & Gold Invitational at Pittsburg State.  The 2024 GLVC Indoor Championships will be contested on Feb. 24-25 in Indianapolis.
