FINDLAY, Ohio – Missouri S&T's golf team rebounded from a ragged first round to shoot three-under-par in round two Monday at the Doc Spragg Invitational, but sits in 13
th place through the first two rounds of play.
S&T – who had two players shoot under par on Monday – finished the opening round with an eight-over-par score of 296, but came back with a 285 in the afternoon session, thanks to a 66 posted by
Carter Schmitt (Baton Rouge, LA/Catholic) and an even par 72 by
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) after he recorded a 69 in the morning. Miltun had eight birdies in his two rounds of play Monday while Schmitt's second round included seven birdies, including a run of five in a span of seven holes.
Miltun's 141 for the day has him in a tie for 11
th place, while Schmitt sits in a tie for 18
th with a two-under 142.
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) finished the afternoon with a score of 149, while
Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) and
Nicolas Estrada (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera) finished with scores of 154.
Findlay's Colin Schadek and Ashland's Carter Mishler each had overall scores of 138 to lead the competition through 36 holes, with a group of four players one shot behind. Grand Valley State holds the overall lead at 14-under-par heading into Tuesday's final round.
