Miltun Places Third, Miners Bring Home Top Five Result at GLVC Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – It was the final day of stroke play at the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference Golf Championships Saturday as the 13-team field again took the course at Broadmoor Country Club. Despite beginning the day in a good position to advance to Saturday, the Miners (288-299-305=892) ran into some troubles over the course of the day, yielding ground on the leaderboard but still managed to bring home a top five finish for the second year in a row.
 
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) (69-72-72=213) finished the event at -3 and in sole possession of third place. The sophomore birdied three times in his final round and carded 11 holes at par in his second trip to the conference championship and was named to the GLVC All-Conference First Team.
 
Newcomer Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) (71-72-78=221) faced some adversity in his final round but managed three birdies and seven holes at par to bring home a top-15 result, finishing T12.
 
Gustav Liljedahl (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan) (74-77-77=228) overcame a rough start to his round and made par of better on his final 10 holes of the weekend, including a birdie on the 423-yard par-4 14th to finish T32.
 
Fatt Hoe Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/SMK Seri Bintang Utara) (74-78-79=231) turned in a birdie and 10 holes at par in his final round of the event, finishing inside the top 40 in 38th.
 
Colin Stolze (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade College Preparatory) (78-78-78=234) matched his score from each of the first two rounds played Friday and recorded a pair of birdies on the front nine before making par on six-straight holes to close out his round and finish T45.
 
Missouri-St. Louis (286-285-287=858) took home the top spot followed by Indianapolis (293-294-285=872), Southern Indiana (290-303-287=880) and McKendree (290-292-301=883). Those four teams will compete Sunday in the first round of match play to determine the GLVC Champion.
