Missouri S&T to host Dewey Allgood Invitational on Saturday

4/14/2022 10:00:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. – With just three weeks remaining before the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, Missouri S&T's track & field teams will host its second home meet of the season when the Dewey Allgood Invitational takes place Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

Saturday's competition will get underway at 11 a.m. with the men's hammer throw, men's javelin and men's long jump.  The track events, starting with the 3,000-meter steeplechase, will start at noon.

The Miners have five members of their men's team and one from the women's side that have reached NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks during the outdoor season.  Among the men, Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) has reached provisional marks in two events, where he currently ranks 16th in the shot put and 21st in the hammer throw.

The other four Miners that have reached provisional marks are Joseph Nickell (Nixa, MO/Nixa), who is ranked 14th nationally in the pole vault; Mitch Fairless (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne), who is ranked 15th in the high jump, Jarett Johnson (Webb City, MO/Webb City), the 25th-ranked competitor in the javelin throw and Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw), who is 27th in the hammer throw.

Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) is the only member of the women's team to reach a provisional mark, which she did last weekend in winning the high jump at the Blue Tiger Invitational.  Her mark, that helped her earn the GLVC's Field Athlete of the Week award, is tied for the 11th-best in the nation in Division II.

Admission to Saturday's meet will be free of charge.
