COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri S&T closed out the week at the Mizzou Invitational by getting four top-10 finishes on the final night of the competition.
Martin Melinder (Upplands Vasby, Sweden/) came in eighth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle as he recorded a time of 16:09.86 and
Nate Baxter (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles North) finished ninth in the 200-yard butterfly for S&T's top finishes on Friday. Baxter had a time of 1:52.77 in the 200-fly, while
Greg Dreisewerd (Ellisville, MO/MICDS) finished 10
th in 1:54.27.
S&T's 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Aidan Walters (Olathe, KS/Olathe East),
Connor Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe), Baxter and
Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton) also finished in ninth as it had a time of 3:04.23.
Marcelo Busch (Sao Centrano Do Sui-Sp, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) placed 10
th in the 1,650-freestyle in 16:26.29, while
Lane Werth (Wichita, KS/Wichita North) was 11
th in 16:51.52 and
Sam Weber (Portage, MI/Portage Central) finished 12
th in 16:53.40.
Mark Cavanaugh (Papillion, NE/Papillion-LaVista) had an 11
th place showing in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:50.49 as did
Jay Mercer (Kansas City, MO/Whitefield Academy) in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:05.03.
S&T also had three more finishers among the top 15 in the 200-breaststroke in
Jordan Christensen (Coralville, IA/Iowa West), who was 12
th in 2:05.35,
Daniel Matlock (Peoria, IL/Richwoods) in 13
th in 2:05.87 and
Chris Sprenger (Shawnee, KS/Mill Valley) in 15
th in 2:06.78. Meanwhile,
Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) had a time in the evening session of 2:02.77 in that event.
Nolan Fergus (Aurora, IL/Marmion Academy) recorded a 12
th place effort in the 200-butterfly in 1:56.53, while
Fletcher Smith (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) was 13
th in 2:00.19. Gabe Porter swam in the 200-fly in an exhibition and posted a time of 1:53.91.
Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton) was 15
th in the 200-back in 1:52.07, as was
Connor Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.58 seconds.
Missouri S&T's next competition will take place on Dec. 16 in a dual meet at Missouri-St. Louis.
