INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T's women's basketball team, who made a seven-game improvement in the win column during the 2021-22 season, has been picked to finish seventh in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the upcoming season.

The Miners received 75 points in the poll in voting from the other 12 coaches in the GLVC – coaches could not vote for their own teams – and finished 11 points in front of Maryville and Illinois Springfield that were tied for eighth.  S&T was eight points in back of Indianapolis for seventh in the pre-season rankings.

Six-time defending GLVC champion Drury was a unanimous selection to win the title again in the 2022-23 campaign.  The Panthers were followed by Truman State, Missouri-St. Louis – who received Drury's first place vote – and Lewis.

The Miners beat the teams picked fourth, fifth and sixth last winter, as they recorded victories over Lewis, fifth place selection Rockhurst and UIndy.

Behind S&T in the poll were the two teams tied for eighth, including Illinois Springfield, who ended the Miners' season in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament in a close contest last February.  Maryville and UIS were followed by Southwest Baptist, Quincy, McKendree and William Jewell.

Missouri S&T will play two exhibition games prior to its season opener at Wisconsin-Parkside on Nov. 11, as it will take on Missouri State on Nov. 2 and Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Nov. 6.  S&T will open its home schedule against Baptist Bible on Nov. 15 and starts GLVC play at Southwest Baptist on Nov. 26.
