FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Missouri S&T golf team was back on the course to open the fall portion of their 2021-22 schedule at Stonewolf Golf Club for the Arch Cup hosted by Missouri-St. Louis. In a field loaded with GLVC competition, the Miners (307-296=603) managed to see their team score improve from round one to round two as they landed a sixth-place finish with two individuals in the top 15.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) (73-71=144) led the Miners' contingent, recording seven birdies across his two rounds and playing 26 holes of par golf to land to finish the event T6.
Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) (76-72=148) also posted a top 15 effort, coming home T12 following an afternoon which saw him record four birdies and 28 holes of par golf.
Gustav Liljedahl (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan) (77-78=155) finished just outside the top 30, tying with three other competitors in 33rd. His day saw home card five birdies, including three in his opening round along with 16 holes at par.
Blake Heimburger (Wentzville, MO/Holt) (85-75=160) found his groove in round two, recording three of his four birdies for the event in that round to finish T50 for the day.
Fatt Hoe Young (81-85=166) notched a birdie in each of his rounds and made par on 18 holes over the course of the event.
S&T also had two players competing as individuals in the event.
Colin Stolze (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade College Preparatory) (79-75=154) turned in a top-30 effort to finish T29 with a trio of birdies to highlight his second round of the day to go along with 22 holes at par.
Nihal Shah (London, England/Culford School) (77-80=157) finished the day T39 and also recorded five birdies, three of which came in round one. In his second round, he carded an eagle on the 519-yard par five sixth as one of just six golfers to record an eagle for the event.
UMSL's (289-291=580) A team took home the top spot, followed by McKendree (296-303=599), Lindenwood (299-301=300), Drury's B team (305-296=601) and Drury's A team (305-297=602) made up the top five.
Up next, the Miners will head to Monkey Island, Oklahoma for the Missouri Southern Invitational September 27-28.
