FISHERS, IND.- The Miner women's golf team took part in the opening round of the GLVC Championship today and find themselves in 9
th place heading into tomorrow's second round.
S&T, who opened the tournament with a 341 team score is just 11 strokes away from current 3
rd place team, Illinois Springfield. Indianapolis, who shot a tournament best 304 today, sits in 1
st place while UMSL is 15 strokes behind them in 2
nd place. UIS, Lewis, and Maryville round out the remaining top-five teams.
The Miners were led by
Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) today and her 82 opening round. She currently sits in a tie for 17
th place while
Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) is right behind her with an 83 after today.
Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County),
Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic), and
Anna Reisinger (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) round out the rest of the team with scores of 86, 90, and 93, respectively.
Tomorrow's second round will begin at 8 a.m. on the 10
th hole for S&T with
Anna Reisinger (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) teeing-off at the top of the hour with
Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic) to follow at 8:09,
Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County) at 8:18,
Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) at 8:27, and
Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) at 8:36 a.m.
