ST. LOUIS, MO- The Miners find themselves in second place after the opening round of the Triton Invitational.
S&T, who shot 328 in the opening round of the tournament, sit just three strokes ahead of Illinois Springfield while Lindenwood and Drury came in at 49 and 50 over par, respectively, today for the 4
th and 5
th place spots. Host school, UMSL, will head into tomorrow's second round in first place after a 315 start.
Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) and
Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic) currently lead the Miners at 10 over par and in a seven-way tie for 12
th place.
Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) is right behind them after an 82 opening round while
Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County) and
Anna Reisinger (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) opened the tournament with scores of 84 and 88.
Sami Swinfard (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City), who is competing as an individual, finished with a 91 opening round.
