Miners Sit in 1st Place After Round One; Five Individuals in Top-15

FULTON, MO- The Miners are off to a great start in day one of the William Woods Spring Invitational, sitting in 1st place with a 13-stroke lead and having all five individuals in the top 15.

S&T played one of their best rounds of the year today, recording a 314 team score and shooting a tournament low 26 over par. William Woods and Columbia College hold the 2nd and 3rd place spots while John A. Logan and Central Methodist round out the top-five spots.

In individual play, Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) and Anna Reisinger (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) sit in a tie for 2nd place after shooting round one scores of 77. Just behind them, Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic) and Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) are in a tie for 5th place at eight over par while Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County) is in 11th place after a round one score of 83.

Sami Swinfard (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City), who is competing as an individual, will head into tomorrow's round in 16th place after an 86 first round score.

Maria Zrodowska from William Woods holds the top individual spot at four over par while Emily Strunck from Columbia College holds the 4th place spot.
