BOLIVAR, MO- After having an outstanding opening round yesterday, the Miner golfers found themselves with a second place finish in their first competition since March and three top-10 individual finishers.
S&T went into round two with a seven stroke lead over Southern Indiana, who ended up claiming the top spot of the tournament. While the Miners 322 performance today was a six stroke improvement from round one, the Screaming Eagles finished day two with a 310 overall score to give them just enough of an edge over S&T, who finished with a 650 team score.
On top of the second place grab, three Miners found themselves in the top-10 for individuals;
Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) finished in a four-way tie for 3
rd place at 14 over par and a 158 score while
Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) and
Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic) snatched up 8
th and 10
th place, respectively.
Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County) and
Sami Swinfard (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) rounded out the remaining Miners competing with final scores of 168 and 176, respectively.
