Nine Miner swimmers named All-America by CSCAA

4/9/2020 8:46:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. – Nine members of Missouri S&T's swimming team – all of whom were selected to compete at the NCAA Division II Championships -- have been named to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's All-America team for the 2019-20 season.

The NCAA Division II Championships were canceled halfway through the second day of competition by the NCAA – along with all of the other winter and spring national championship events – as a precaution against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  As a result, the CSCAA adjusted its All-America selection criteria for this season.

In the contested events, the top eight finalists were named first-team All-America and consolation finalists were named honorable mention.  In the events that were not contested over what would have been the final two days of the meet, individual and relay qualifiers were named to the All-America team.

"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Coach (Doug) Grooms did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. These nine student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."
