Box Score SPRINGFIELD, ILL.- Multiple S&T players found themselves having career days and hitting milestones, but the explosive offense of Illinois Springfield could not be stopped late in the game as the Miners went on to face the 83-76 loss.
S&T opened the game trading baskets with the Prairie Stars.
Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) led the charge of the Miners pulling away from UIS with 5:26 left in the first quarter.
Kabetske's three-pointer, along with free-throws from
Alex Kerr (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and
Laura Rodriguez (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones) would put the Miners up 15-9 with just under four minutes to play.
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) and
Tristen McFeders (Kansas City, Mo./Bishop Miege) would add in baskets before the end of the quarter to extend the Miners lead out to 21-16 heading into the second quarter.
S&T opened up shop in the second quarter, going on an 11-2 run to take their largest lead of the game at 36-23.
Illinois Springfield's Lauren Ladowski would complete a three-point play just before the buzzer to make it a 40-29 game heading into the break.
The Prairie Stars made their comeback in the third quarter; cutting the Miners lead to as little as two after Katelyn Rosner sank a jumpshot at the elbow with 4:05 left in the quarter.
S&T's offense would hold steady through the last part of the third, getting their lead back out to 56-48 heading into the final quarter.
UIS took it to the Miners to open the fourth quarter. After a 15-4 run gave the Prairie Stars their first lead of the game, S&T struggled to regain their lead back.
While the Miners tried everything they could to shoot their way back into the game, a 35-point quarter from Illinois Springfield would put them ahead by as much as 10 before the final buzzer. The Prairie Stars would hold on for the 83-76 win.
While five different S&T players scored in double-figures tonight,
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) made some noise after hitting 1,000 career points as a Miner. With 3:57 left in the game, Raley sank a three-pointer from the near wing to make her just the 15
th player in program history to surpass the milestone.
Mykala Baylor (South Bend, Ind./Clay) led the way with her 13
th double-double of the season with a career high 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Tristen McFeders (Kansas City, Mo./Bishop Miege) had herself a career day with 13 points while Raley also chipped in 13.
Alex Kerr (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and
Laura Rodriguez (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones) rounded out the remaining Miners in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively.
Missouri S&T (7-15, 3-12 GLVC) finished the game shooting 47% from the field and was held to just three made three-pointer for the game.
