SPRINGFIELD, ILL.- The Miners faced a rough second round in the Dan Salisbury Memorial Tournament, coming out of today's play with a 342 score to give them a 665 final and a 7
th place finish.
Emilie Nguyen (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) was the top individual finisher for S&T this weekend raking in a
19
th place finish at 19 over par. After her 79 opening round, Nguyen finished up +12 for the day and a 163 final score.
Karson Kimsey (Sautee Nacoochee, Ga./White County) was not too far behind Nguyen with at 21 over par for the tournament and a 165 for a share of 23
rd place.
Taylor Ornelas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) was the only Miner to have improved from round one to today; after recording an 85 yesterday, Ornelas shaved off three strokes in round two and combined for a 167 finish.
Sami Swinfard (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) and
Lauren Allen (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis Catholic) rounded out the remaining S&T athletes with final scores of 172 and 175, respectively.
There was a fight for first place in team play today; Lindenwood would claim the top spot with a 633 final score while Missouri-St. Louis came within one stroke of the Lions. Illinois Wesleyan, who finished third, was just behind UMSL with a 635 score.
