ROLLA, MO- The Miner softball team will conclude their regular season play this weekend when they host the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday and the Saints of Maryville University on Sunday afternoon. After Sunday's games, the Miners six seniors,
Rachel Aiardo (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North),
Gretchen Egly (Joliet, IL/Plainfield Central),
Carley Hamann (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln Way North),
Courtney Jackson (Parkville, MO/Park Hill South),
Lauren King (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North), and Hannah Franceschinni will all be honored for their hard work and dedication to the S&T softball program.
Missouri S&T finished last weekend with a series split with Quincy University.
After the Miners offense revved up in the first game for the 8-4 win, the Hawks came back with homeruns in back to back innings to hold S&T off for the 6-3 win.
Marcy McCalla (Staunton, IL/Staunton) has been making a name for herself over the last couple of games; she went 5-12 last weekend and tacked on her first career homerun.
Leading the pack offensively is
Courtney Jackson (Parkville, MO/Park Hill South) with her .343 batting average. She has racked up a team leading 48 hits and 51 total bases. Shortstop
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) is right behind her with a .297 batting average and is 25-26 for stolen bases this season. With her 25 stolen bases, Klein ranks 3
rd in the GLVC in stolen bases per game.
Three other Miners are ranked in the top 10 in the conference for their play;
Hannah Franceschini (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central) ranks as the toughest batter to strikeout in the GLVC with
Abby Klein (Kansas City, MO/Staley) ranking as the 4
th toughest batter; pitcher
Avery English (Carterville, IL/Carterville) posts the 5
th best ERA in the league with her 2.41 ERA while Klein and
Carley Hamann (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln Way North) share a piece of the most sacrifice hits per game.
 Missouri-St. Louis (27-17, 16-6 GLVC) is currently on a six game winning streak that was extended this past weekend when the Tritons swept Rockhurst and William Jewell. While they sit in 3
rd place in the GLVC, they also hold A 3
RD place spot in the Midwest Regional Ranking.
Chelsea Martinez has been the biggest offensive threat for the Tritons this season with her teaming leading nine homeruns and 46 hits. She is the only player for UMSL that is batting above .300 and has a slugging percentage of greater than .500 (.731).
Andee Tiffee and Carly Kingery have been the go-to pitchers for the Tritons this season; Tiffee who is 2
nd in the league with her 1.50 ERA has 146 strikeouts in her 107.2 innings of work and has an 11-4 record to match it. Kingery, who is 4
th in the GLVC with her 2.22 ERA, leads the team with 157 strikeouts in her 138.2 innings.
Maryville (29-16, 14-8 GLVC) will face off against the Panthers of Drury University before coming to Rolla on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints are currently on a four game winning streak after they swept William Jewell and Rockhust last weekend. Maryville currently sits in 4
th place in the GLVC standings.
Hitting has been the Saints strong suit this season; seven batters are hitting over .300 while all but one of them has double digit RBI for the season. Bri Livingston leads the pack with her 38 RBI and seven homeruns to go along with her team leading 57 hits.
Alyssa Callans and Olivia Jarvis have gotten the bulk of the starts for the Saints in the pitcher's circle; Callans comes into the weekend with a 2.71 ERA and a 12-6 record while Jarvis is right behind her with a 2.88 ERA and a 15-10 overall record.
