Softball Earns Five CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind.  --  Five members of the 2026 Missouri S&T Softball team have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District for contributions to their sport while maintaining a GPA above 3.5, with AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X), Molly Fitzgerald (Crystal Lake, IL/Marian Central Catholic), Claire Lopez (Olathe, KS/Olathe Northwest), Taylor Nelson (Hailey, ID/Phillips Exeter Academy) and Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/Basha) all receiving the honor.

Agers was a utility player for the Miners last season and served as a starting pitcher, starting in 28 games. She finished the year 9th in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for ERA and sixth for WHIP with marks of 2.82 and 1.85. Agers also played third base in the field, hitting .253. She earned Second Team All-GLVC honors as a utility player and Third Team honors as a pitcher.

Fitzgerald played both infield and outfield for the Miners, recording 61 putouts. She hit .226 during the season and was second on the team in RBIs with 41, a mark that tied her for 14th in the conference. She made consistent contact in her at bats, recording the fewest strikeouts on the team with just 10.

Lopez was a key part of the S&T infield this year, playing second base. She recorded the second-best batting average on the team, hitting .341 in 173 at bats. She was also second on the team for both hits (59) and on base percentage (.467). She led the team in stolen bases as well, stealing 29 to rank her T-6th in the conference.

Nelson was the Miners' top hitter this year, recording a .416 batting average that is also the sixth best in the GLVC. She also was third in the conference and 12th in Division II for home runs hit with 20, setting a new S&T record. She also set a school record for slugging percentage in a season with an .894 that led the conference and was fifteenth in Division II. She earned Second Team All-GLVC honors as a shortstop behind GLVC Player of the Year Lauren Harris.

Thompson rounds out the S&T's CSC Academic All-District honorees. Another key piece of the S&T infield, Thompson played first base this year, recording the best fielding percentage amonst S&T infielders with a .987. She hit .264 over the course of the season and had a .568 slugging percentage that was second on the team. Her ten home runs were the second most on the team and helped the Miners break the school record for home runs in a season with 61.
