ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team has its first two spring matches under its belt, as it suffered a loss to Missouri State but bounced back with a win over Central Arkansas.

S&T competed March 9 in its first spring matches, playing two quality Division I opponents in Missouri State and Central Arkansas and began the day with a tough 1-0 loss to Missouri State.  "In the first half we started slow and gave up a quick goal, but in the second half we were better on both sides of the ball," said S&T head coach Rob Cummings.   
 
In the second match against Central Arkansas, the Miners came away with a 2-1 victory.  "It was more of a complete effort in our second match and it was great to see some of the young and new players step up and show well," Cummings said. 
 
The Miners return to action Saturday when they host a round robin event.   S&T will play Crowder Junior College at 2 p.m., and follow that with a 4:30 p.m. contest against William Woods University.
