CLEVELAND, Miss. – Missouri S&T's swimming team added three more individuals to its list of provisional qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Championships on Thursday night as competition continued at the Delta State Christmas Invitational – a night where the S&T captured three of the four contested events along the way.

After having seven of its members make B-cuts on Wednesday, the Miners added Dylan Friesz (Round Rock, TX/Hutto), Josh Umrysh and Colten Becker (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) to that list on day two.  Friesz made his mark with a time of 1:49.60 in a time trial in the 200-yard backstroke, while Umrysh and Becker made the list as part of S&T's winning performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  That duo, along with previous qualifiers Marco Flores (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/SERAN Private Bilingual School) and Chris Betts (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch), won the event with a time of 1:21.17 to edge out Missouri-St. Louis and Lindenwood.

Betts also recorded a winning effort in the 50-yard freestyle with a B-cut time of 20.53 seconds, while Flores also made a provisional mark as he finished fourth in 20.73; he had a time of 20.60 in the preliminaries.  S&T's third winning performance Thursday came from Aaron Taske (Fairfield, OH/Saint Xavier) as he captured the 500-yard freestyle in 4:26.79, a time that also cleared the B-cut standard.

S&T got two additional provisional marks Thursday from individuals that had already made one in another event on Wednesday, as Alex Graham (Parker, TX/Homeschooled) made one in the 500-freestyle by finishing third in 4:29.92 and Andy Huffman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) posted a time of 1:50.28 in the morning session in the 200-yard individual medley before taking fifth in the finals.

The Miners received additional top-eight performances from Becker in the 50-freestyle with a seventh place showing in 21.05 seconds, Tim Samuelsen (Stavanger, Norway/St. Svithun VGS) in the 500-freestyle with an eighth place showing in 4:41.61 and Daniel Matlock (Peoria, IL/Richwoods) in the 200-IM where he also finished eighth in 1:53.75.

At the midway point of the meet, the Miners find themselves in third place in the team standings with 666 points, trailing only Lindenwood with its 797 points and host Delta State, who has tallied 756 through two days.  The meet continues through Saturday.
