ROLLA, Mo. – With its home schedule now completed, Missouri S&T's men's soccer team heads to the road for its final three contests that will begin with a two-game road trip this weekend to take on Lewis and Indianapolis.
The Miners will look to get back on the winning track Friday in their 7:30 p.m. game at Lewis, before heading southeast to Indianapolis for Sunday's 2:30 p.m. (Eastern time) match with the Greyhounds. S&T comes into the Lewis contest off a pair of home losses last weekend to McKendree and Illinois Springfield that dropped the Miners to 3-10 overall and 3-7 in the GLVC.
S&T had only three shots on net in the two setbacks as it was shut out in back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Miners are still led in overall scoring by
Unnar Ulfarsson (Gardabaer, Iceland/Fjolnir Reykjavik) with 13 points on four goals and five assists, while
Austin Parks (Rolla, MO/Rolla) continues to hold the team lead in goals with five.
Hunter Short (Rolla, MO/Rolla) has scored three times for S&T and
Tyler Sivadon (Spring, TX/Concordia Lutheran) has a pair of goals, while goalkeeper
Nick Posey (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) has recorded 52 saves in 13 games this season.
Lewis enters Friday's game with losses in its last three outings and is 3-8-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the GLVC following weekend losses to Rockhurst and William Jewell. Jesus Ochoa and Devon Amoo-Mensah – both of whom tallied goals in Sunday's 3-2 loss to William Jewell – each have four goals on the season while Konrad Malinowski has scored three times.
Edgar Avila has 47 saves and a 1.54 goals against average for the Flyers.
Indianapolis comes into play this weekend in a five-way tie for third place in the GLVC standings at 6-3-1 and owns a 10-3-1 overall mark. The Greyhounds, who will host Drury Friday prior to S&T's visit on Sunday, are coming off a 2-1 win Sunday at Rockhurst as they got second half goals from Javier Steinwascher and James Jenkins to rally from a 1-0 deficit.
Josh Mahon leads UIndy with five goals and four assists for 14 points, while Steinwascher and his brother, Alejandro, have 13 points each. Miles Palmer has a 0.84 goals against average and 25 saves in the nets for the Greyhounds. UIndy's 28 goals are the second-most by a team in the GLVC.
