ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners resume Great Lakes Valley Conference play for good on Thursday when it travels up to Kirksville to take on Truman State.
The Lady Miners face the Bulldogs in a 5:30 p.m. contest in Pershing Arena and then come back to Rolla for a 1 p.m. contest against Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. S&T is 5-5 on the season and looking for its first win in league play.
The Lady Miners wrapped up their non-conference schedule this past Saturday with a convincing 80-54 win over Westminster at Billy Key Court to snap a five-game losing streak.
Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) led four players in double figures with 17 points while
Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) added 14.
Ashley Harvey (Raytown, Mo./Raytown) recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and
Bria Pierce (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North) added 10 points.
Arand leads S&T in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game, which ranks ninth in the conference in scoring.
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) checks in at 13.7 points per contest which is 13
th best in the league in scoring.
Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) is dropping home 9.1 points a game, leads the team with 32 assists and is tied for second in the league in three-point field goal percentage at 50 percent.
ABOUT TRUMAN STATE: The Bulldogs have won five games in a row since dropping a 68-67 decision at Washburn on Nov. 25. The 'Dogs led 67-66 with just seconds to play but the Ichabods hit a shot at the buzzer for the victory. Truman is 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in league play. Thursday's contest will be the first for the Bulldogs since they defeated Missouri Western 77-68 two weeks ago in St. Joseph.
Ashley Hartwig and Katie Jaseckas combined for 41 points in the win over the Griffons. Jaseckas leads the team in scoring with 12.2 per contest while Hartwig is averaging 11.6 points per game. Jaseckas also leads the team in rebounds with nearly six per game while Hartwig has dished out a team best 21 assists.
Truman is averaging 7.7 three-point baskets per game, fourth best in the GLVC, led by Remy Davenport with 13, Brooke Bailey has made 11 three's, Tiffany Davenport has hit 10 three's and Sam Andrews has connected nine times.
ABOUT WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE: The Rangers enter play this week with a record of 5-9, 1-1 in league play. In their last game, they fell to Northwood 83-75 at DeSimone Gymnasium. Parkside held an 11-point lead at halftime but was outscored 45-26 in the second half. Ali Bettencourt led the Rangers with 22 points while Hayley Maystead and Asiah Lawson added 12 points each.
Bettencourt leads the team in scoring with 15.2 points per contest which is eighth best in the conference. Maystead is averaging 11.6 points per game while Carolina Rahkonen is dropping home 10.4 ppg and Lawson is averaging 9.7 points per outing. Georgie Eishold leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 boards per game and is tied with Bettencourt for the team lead in assists with 35.
Parkside will host McKendree on Thursday before taking on the Lady Miners on Saturday afternoon.
