Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's basketball goes for its fourth straight win as it hosts Missouri Valley College at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Billy Key Court. The Lady Miners are coming off a 72-57 win at Lincoln on Tuesday while the Vikings have dropped back-to-back exhibition contests.
S&T (3-0) shot 62 percent (8-for-13) from the floor in the third quarter on Tuesday evening and outscored the Blue Tigers 23-10 allowing them to extend its two point halftime lead into a 15-point advantage heading into the final quarter.
Ashley Harvey (Raytown, Mo./Raytown) led the way scoring seven of her nine points in the stanza while
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) added five and
Michelle Borgen (Tinley Park, Illinois/Andrew) and
Katie Moreno-Bonnett (Bogota, Colombia/Life Preparatory Academy) had four points each.
Borgen leads the Lady Miners in scoring with 19.3 points per game and is joined in double figures by
Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) at 15.3 ppg and Raley is dropping in 15 points per contest.
Kim Runge (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) leads the team in rebounding with 11.7 per game.
Missouri Valley is 4-1 on the season but has dropped its last two in exhibition contests. The Vikings lost at Truman State last Saturday 77-65 and then traveled down to Cape Girardeau on Tuesday where they were defeated 69-34 by Southeast Missouri State.
Veronika Petkova leads MVC in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. She's averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season while dishing out 28 assists and recording 10 steals. Hilma Mededovic is averaging 17 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest this season. Mededovic had a game-high 16 points on Tuesday against the Redhawks.
