Women’s basketball heads to Jefferson City to take on Lincoln on Tuesday

Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's basketball team heads to Jefferson City to take on the Lincoln Blue Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The Lady Miners are seeking to start the season 3-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 season with a win.

S&T opened its season this past weekend with wins over LeMoyne-Owen 93-84 and Purdue Northwest 88-80 in the Lady Miner Classic. Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) scored a career-high 31 points on Friday night to lead four players in double figures. On Saturday, Michelle Borgen (Tinley Park, Illinois/Andrew) dropped in 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to become the first player since Jamy Douvier to have a double-double in a game. The Lady Miners again had four players reach double figures in scoring against the Pride and Kim Runge (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in that game.

Arand leads the team in scoring with 20 points per game while Borgen is averaging 19.5 points and seven rebounds per contest. Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) is averaging 15 points per game and Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) is dropping home 11 points per contest. Runge leads the team on the glass averaging 13 rebounds per game while Borgen and Raley lead the team in assists with six each.

Lincoln is 1-1 on the season after splitting its two contests in the Lindenwood Classic this past weekend. The Blue Tigers opened the season with a 66-54 loss to Arkansas-Monticello despite 17 points from Citlali Lopez last Friday. On Saturday, Lincoln overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Southern Arkansas 62-57 thanks to a big fourth quarter. The Blue Tigers outscored the Lady Muleriders 25-12 in the final quarter. Lopez finished with a game-high 17 points and was joined in double figures by Lajanea Kimbrough with 12 points.

Lopez leads the team in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game while Kimbrough is dropping in eight points per contest. Bre Coleman leads the team in rebounding with 10.5 points per game. Lopez also leads the team with nine assists.
