Volleyball returns home to face Truman State and Quincy this weekend

Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T's volleyball returns team home this weekend beginning a four match homestand starting with Truman State and Quincy this weekend. The Miners and Bulldogs square off Friday night at 7 p.m. and the match with the Hawks is at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday's match is also the annual Dig Pink match with pink t-shirts being given away to the first 125 students with a valid identification card. The Miners will be wearing their pink jerseys for the match and there will be raffle for the pink and white volleyballs that will be used for the game. There will also be a silent auction to bid on the pink out shirts with the player's names and numbers on the back. Proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

S&T (15-8, 6-3 GLVC) enters play this weekend having dropped three of its last four matches after going 1-2 last weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover in Aurora, Ill. The Miners defeated Cedarville in straight sets before falling to Findlay and Grand Valley State in four sets each.

Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) continues to lead the attack with her 3.06 kills per set and she is 54 kills shy of breaking the school record for kills in career set by Erin Bekebrede (2008-11). Carlie Combs (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) is averaging 3.02 kills/set while Gracey Moon (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) surpassed the 1,000 career kill total at the Crossover last weekend. Alexis White (Auburn, Wash./Riverside) is averaging nearly 9.5 assists per set and Jackie Pyles (White Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) continues to lead the GLVC in digs/set with 5.59.

Truman (13-7, 6-3 GLVC) has won six of its last seven matches after having its six match winning streak snapped in a five set loss against Hillsdale last weekend at the Crossover. The Bulldogs defeated Tiffin in four sets and Ashland in five sets at the event as well.

Kayla Bastian leads the Truman attack averaging 3.10 kills per set and has an attack percentage of .202 while Ali Patterson is averaging 2.31 kills/set and is hitting .350 percent. The Bulldogs have three different setters with Matti Mason averaging 8.22 assists per set. Kayleen Green is dishing out nearly 5.5 assists per set and Abby Heise is averaging 1.69 kills and 2.71 assists per set. Claire Wandrey and Bastian are the leaders on the defensive side of the ball averaging 4.24 and 3.77 digs/set respectively.

Quincy has dropped five of its last seven matches heading into Friday night's contest at Drury. The Hawks went 1-2 last weekend at the Crossover falling to Ohio Dominican 3-1 and Malone 3-0 before concluding the event with a sweep of Walsh. Quincy is 10-12 overall, 4-5 in the GLVC and tied for fifth in league play.

The Hawks have three players averaging over two kills per set led by Gianna Lincoln with 2.33 while Emily Lindemulder and Bekah Raebel are averaging 2.29 per set. Miranda Rodriquez and Cassandra Hill have split time at the setter position averaging 5.96 and 4.92 assists per set respectively. On the defensive side of the ball Quincy is averaging 2.22 blocks/set and nearly 17 digs per set. Rachel Shores has dug up 348 attacks for an average of 4.64 per set.
