Foster, Hawkins, Bradshaw win 2014 Gale Bullman Awards

ROLLA, Mo. – Three standout performers at Missouri S&T – both during the 2013-14 season and throughout their careers – were selected as the winners of the Gale Bullman Awards Thursday night at the annual M-Club Awards Banquet at Havener Center.

Bryce Foster, an all-region selection named as the Capital One Academic All-America of the Year for NCAA Division II men's basketball, was the co-recipient of the men's award along with track & field All-America performer Adriel Hawkins.  The women's honor went to Mary Ann Bradshaw, a member of the women's track & field team that has set four school records on an individual basis and holds the team's top marks in nine events during the two 2014 track seasons.

Foster was named to the all-region second team by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Daktronics following a year in which he was a unanimous first-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection.  He finished second in the conference in scoring with an average of 21.6 points per game and scored in double figures in 25 of the team's 27 games, while also ranking among the GLVC leaders in three-pointers with 66.

He finished his career ranked third on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,683 points and the 584 points he scored this season were the fourth-most of any player in one year in school history.   Foster also posted the first-ever triple-double in the history of the Miner program in a Dec. 8 win over Webster.

Hawkins earned All-America honors in the indoor 200-meters with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in March and was named as the GLVC's "Track Athlete of the Year" for both the indoor and outdoor season.   He captured both 200-meter titles and also won the outdoor triple jump to help the Miners win the conference meet last weekend.

He broke the school record in the 200-meters in both the indoor season with a mark of 21.49 seconds and again in the outdoor campaign in 21 seconds flat, as well as setting the mark in the indoor 60-meter dash.

Bradshaw was a second-team All-GLVC selection for the outdoor season after anchoring the Lady Miners' 4x400-meter relay team that placed second at the conference's outdoor meet.  She scored in three events at the meet, including a fourth place finish in the heptathlon.

She is the holder of the Lady Miner school records in both of the multi-event compeitions – where she was the GLVC indoor champion in 2013 – as well as the outdoor 400-meter hurdles, indoor triple jump and as part of the indoor 4x400-meter relay team.

The Bullman Award, named for the university's former director of athletics and long-time football coach, is the most prestigious award given to a Missouri S&T student-athlete.  It is traditionally given to a senior student-athlete who has displayed outstanding character and excelled both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Head track & field coach Sterling Martin and assistant coach Brandon Masters, who helped guide the Miners to the GLVC title during the outdoor season as well as a second place finish in the indoor season, were selected as the M-Club "Coach of the Year".  The MM Award was presented to guest speaker Diane Butrus, a 1985 graduate of Missouri S&T who played for the Lady Miner basketball and softball teams.
