Box Score (Springfield, Ill.) – Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) set a new school single game record with her eight made three-pointers to help Missouri S&T snap a five-game losing streak in an 89-58 win at Illinois Springfield on Thursday evening in Springfield, Ill. Knar also set career-highs in points (29) and field goals made (10).

The Lady Miners (7-13, 3-9 GLVC) raced out to an early 5-0 lead less than a minute into the contest. The Prairie Stars (5-15, 1-11 GLVC) countered with five straight of their own to tie the game about a minute later. S&T answered that run with 12 straight points to take a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) hit a jumper to spark the run and Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) had six points in the run.

Illinois Springfield cut the margin to 21-17 with 9:26 left in the half, but Jaaron Kassanavoid (Lawson, Mo./Lawson) answered with a three-pointer to spark a 12-2 run to push the lead back into double figures by the 6:25 mark. Knar added two big three's in the run. The Prairie Stars took advantage of some sloppy play by the Lady Miners scoring four of their next six points off of turnovers.

The Lady Miners went cold over the next six and a half minutes, but Illinois Springfield couldn't take advantage hitting just two three-pointers in that span. Knar snapped the cold spell hitting her seventh trey of the night to push the lead back to 29 points with less than six minutes to play in the contest.

Head coach Alan Eads tried to get Knar the record but she missed her next two attempts before breaking the record with 2:38 left in the contest. S&T outscored the Prairie Stars 9-7 over the final two and a half minutes for the final margin.
