(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners hit the road again this weekend for the final two games of their four-game road trip. The Lady Miners look to break a five-game losing streak at Illinois Springfield on Thursday evening and then travel to Lebanon, Ill., for a match-up with McKendree University on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

S&T heads into Thursday's contest looking for its first true road win of the season and keep alive its hopes for making the GLVC Tournament for an eighth straight year. The Lady Miners are averaging 66.8 points per contest, but are giving up nearly 74 points per game. Mia Wesley (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) continues to lead the team in scoring with 14.7 per contest while Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) are dropping in 11.8 and 10.5 per contest. Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) is chipping in with 9.8 ppg and leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 per contest.

S&T has won three straight in the series and six of the seven meetings overall. Last season the Lady Miners defeated the Prairie Stars 76-63 in Rolla and had to rally from a double digit deficit for a 63-57 win in Springfield on February 14. Thursday's contest will be the fourth meeting in Springfield where S&T has won two of the three meetings.

Like the Lady Miners, Illinois Springfield has lost its last five as well and nine of 10 overall. The Prairie Stars lost a pair of tough ones on the road last weekend to Southern Indiana 73-72 and Bellarmine 73-70. UIS had a chance to steal against the Screaming Eagles, but Alyssa Palmer's shot was blocked by Anna Hackert with 0:04 left. The Prairie Stars got the rebound but Courtney Knuckles three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.

This past Saturday UIS led for a majority of the contest at Bellarmine, but couldn't put the game away as the Knights came back to win 73-70. Jessica Hardin gave Bellarmine a 71-69 lead with 0:36 with her fifth three-pointer of the contest. The Prairie Stars had a chance to tie the game but Elizabeth Kelly made just 1-of-2 at the foul line with 0:21. UIS was forced to foul and Therese Montano hit both free throws with 0:15 left.
The Prairie Stars then missed a three with 0:05 left got the offensive rebound but turned it over with 0:01 remaining.

UIS is averaging 64.9 points per game and is led in scoring by Megan Bergerud with 16.2 per contest. She is shooting 41.0 percent from beyond the arc for the season. Alyssa Palmer is averaging 11.9 per game while Cassie Wolf and Elizabeth Kelly are adding 8.3 and 7.4 points respectively. Kelly leads the team in rebounding with 8.5 per game.

On Saturday the Lady Miners will head to McKendree University to take on the Bearcats. McKendree (7-11, 2-8 GLVC) has dropped three straight and nine of its last 10 heading into Thursday's contest against Drury. The Bearcats dropped an 85-79 decision at Bellarmine last Thursday and then lost at Southern Indiana 100-49 on Saturday.
