(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners conclude the regular season on Thursday with a visit from the seventh ranked Drury Lady Panthers beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night's game will be the final home game for
Erica Askew (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park),
Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover),
Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein),
Senait McLeod (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) and
Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton). The five seniors will be honored between games of the doubleheader.
Missouri S&T is encouraging its fans to wear green to Thursday's contest, as the first 200 S&T students with a valid I.D. card that come to the north gate (10
th Street entrance) will receive a shirt to wear at the game and residents of Phelps County who wear green to the arena will be admitted for $2. A valid identification card denoting place of residence will be required. Imo's Pizza and Buffalo Wild Wings will be sponsoring the halftime shootouts for S&T students, who will need to register at a designated location at the game.
The Lady Miners look to snap a two-game skid on Thursday against the Lady Panthers. Last weekend S&T fell on the road to Rockhurst 65-60 and William Jewell 83-81. Sample led the charge averaging 30 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two games. She finished with a career-high 34 points in the game against the Cardinals.
Despite the two losses last weekend S&T clinched a spot in the conference tournament for the eighth consecutive season and will open on the road in the first round on Sunday. Pairings and times will be announced after the completion of the games on Thursday.
Sample leads the Lady Miners in scoring with 13.8 points per game and is joined in double figures by
Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and
Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) who are averaging 12.3 and 10.4 ppg respectively. Cooper leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game while Sample has dished out a team best 61 assists.
Drury comes into Thursday's game having won seven straight and 12 of its last 13 after defeating William Jewell and Rockhurst this past weekend. The Lady Panthers are currently ranked first in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Rankings.
Drury leads the GLVC in scoring averaging 81.6 points per game while allowing 71.3 per contest. Amber Dvorak leads the team in scoring with 16.4 points a night and is joined in double figures by Kylie Williamson and Bethanie Funderburk with 13.3 points each. Sanayika Shields leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 boards and Annie Armstrong leads the squad with 99 assists.
The Lady Panthers defeated S&T 76-59 in the conference opener in Springfield on Dec. 5.
