Lady Miners begin four-game road trip at Truman State

(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners hit the road for the start of a four-game road trip beginning Thursday night at Truman State. The Lady Miners and Bulldogs renew their rivalry from their days in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association at 5:30 pm., from Pershing Arena.

S&T has lost three straight and nine of its last 11 heading into Thursday's contest after dropping an 80-67 decision to Missouri-St. Louis this past Saturday to conclude a four-game homestand. Senait McLeod (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) led four Lady Miners in double figures with 15 points. Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) dropped in 12, Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) and Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) added 10 points apiece.

S&T is averaging 67.8 points per game, but allowing 72.7 per contest. Mia Wesley (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) leads the team in scoring with 15.8 per game and is one of three players averaging double figures. Knar is contributing 12.2 a night and Sample is averaging 10.5 per contest. As a team the Lady Miners are shooting 43.8 percent (420-for-958) from the field and have connected on 88 of its 252 attempts (34.9 percent) from beyond the arc.

Truman State enters play on Thursday riding a seven-game winning streak after picking up two road wins last weekend in Kansas City. The Bulldogs rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Rockhurst 63-52 last Thursday and then defeated William Jewell 83-75 on Saturday.
Truman is 13-4, 7-2 GLVC on the season and received a vote in this week's USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Top 25 poll.

The Bulldogs are averaging 80.2 points per game which is second in the GLVC. They lead the conference in three-point field-goal percentage (39.8 percent), free throw percentage (78.8 percent) and three-pointers made per game with 7.8. They've made 427 of their 1,006 attempts (42.4 percent) from the floor and are outrebounding opponents by 7.6 boards per game. Allie Norton leads the team in scoring with 12.9 per contest and is joined in double figures by Amy Briggs (12.6 per game), Nicole Gloor (12.1 ppg), Bianca Szafarowicz is dropping in 10.8 a night and Courtney Strait is contributing 10.2 points off the bench.

On Saturday S&T heads to Quincy, Ill., to take on the 15th ranked Hawks of Quincy University. Quincy has dominated the series of late winning six of the last nine meetings; however, the Lady Miners won both meetings last season. S&T defeated the Hawks in Rolla 74-53 on January 17 and then won at Quincy 59-54 a month later.

Quincy is 15-2, 8-1 in the GLVC and is currently tied for first place in the West Division with Drury. Those two teams will face off on Thursday evening in Quincy. The Hawks bring a six-game winning streak into play this week and are undefeated at home this season.

Quincy is averaging nearly 79 points per game and outscoring its opposition by 16.5 points per game. It is shooting 47 percent from the field (480-for-1024), has made 103-of-279 attempts from three and is shooting 74.2 percent (276-of-372) from the foul line. The Hawks are led in scoring by Hannah Weedman with 13.6 ppg while Lucy Cramsey is averaging 12.5 per contest.
