1/21/2014 2:35:00 PM

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's basketball team heads into the back end of its four-game homestand this week looking to continue moving up in the standings in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's West Division, with two divisional foes coming to town for games on Thursday and Saturday.

The Miners, 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the GLVC after winning games over William Jewell and Rockhurst last week, will host Maryville Thursday in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Billy Key Court. That will be followed by a visit from Missouri-St. Louis for a 3 p.m. game Saturday to close out the Miners' longest homestand of the season.

S&T got a huge week from Bryce Foster (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) last week, as he averaged 26.5 points in the two wins last week. Foster scored 24 to help lead S&T to its victory over William Jewell, then posted the second-highest output of his career Saturday with 29 points in the Miners' 83-74 victory over Rockhurst.

Foster is currently second in the GLVC in scoring with his average of 21.5 points per game, while Mudiaga Eruteya (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame) is sixth in scoring (17.5 points a game) and rebounding (8.5) and third in assists (5.1) in the GLVC following Monday's action in the conference. Eruteya had seven assists on Saturday, marking the eighth time this season in which he has dished out at least six assists in a game.

Nusrath Khan (Morton Grove, Ill./Maine East) is also scoring in double figures for S&T at 15.4 points a game while shooting 51 percent from the field and nearly 44 percent from three-point range.

Maryville just closed out a four-game homestand in which it split the four contests, losing the finale 63-61 to Truman State Saturday. The Saints come into Thursday's game at 9-5 overall and 3-3 in GLVC play and rank second in the conference in points allowed per game, as opponents have scored just 66.2 points per game against them.

Armon Provo, who connected on 11-of-12 from beyond the three-point line in the Saints' two wins over S&T last season, leads Maryville in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game and is second in the GLVC with his 2.9 three-pointers per contest. Asa Toney is also scoring in double figures at 13.5 points a game and leads the Saints in rebounding (4.4 a game) and assists (57).

Thursday's game will feature the top two active scorers in the GLVC in the Miners' Foster, who has 1,422 career points and Toney, who has scored 1,272 in his three-plus seasons at Maryville.

Saturday's opponent, Missouri-St. Louis, is 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the GLVC heading into Thursday's game at fifth-ranked Drury. The Tritons snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday when they rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to beat Quincy 75-72.

Tylor Wimbish scored a game-high 27 points to the lead UMSL in its comeback win and is among five double figure scorers for the Tritons on the season. Femi John, a transfer from Saint Louis University, leads UMSL with an average of 13.5 points a game, while Wimbish is averaging 12.3 a game and Darian Cartharn is scoring 11.2 a contest.

Aareon Smith, who is averaging 10.7 points a game, is the top rebounder with 6.1 a contest while Michael Weber is averaging 10.4 points and is shooting 47.4 percent from three-point range. The Tritons enter the week ranked second in the GLVC in three-point shooting at 42.7 percent.
