(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners return to the home court for the first time since Nov. 23 when it hosts the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Friday evening at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. The Lady Miners will also play host to Saint Joseph's College on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
S&T has dropped three straight and four of its last five since starting the season at 3-1. In their last outing before the break the Lady Miners dropped a 72-68 decision at Henderson State on Dec. 21. That game was tight throughout featuring 14 ties and eight lead changes with neither side holding a lead bigger than six points. S&T held a 66-63 with less than five minutes to play, but the Lady Reddies closed the game on a 9-2 run to win its fifth straight.
Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) led all scorers with 22 points in that contest and was a point shy of matching her career-high of 23 set last season at Saint Joseph's.
Mia Wesley (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) and
Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) had 11 points apiece.
The Greyhounds enter Friday night's contest with a record of 9-2 and have won five straight. During their current winning streak the 'Hounds have defeated their opponents by an average of 26.2 points per game. In their last outing they defeated Grand Valley State 91-52 behind 21 points from Katy McIntosh. Kelly Walter and Rose Savela added 16 and 12 points respectively off the bench. Indianapolis is currently ranked in top 15 in Division II in field-goal percentage (8
th), free throw percentage (8
th) and three-point FG percentage (13
th).
The Greyhounds are averaging 79.0 points per game and are led in scoring by McIntosh and Walter with 18.7 and 11.3 ppg respectively. Kirsten Gliesmann leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 per contest while Eliza Wortman is averaging just over six rebounds per game.
Saint Joseph's enters play this weekend with a record of 2-5 and will open its GLVC schedule at Drury on Friday evening. The Pumas have dropped two straight and three of its last four overall heading into the contest with the Panthers. SJC dropped a pair of road games before the break to Ursuline College 87-64 and Walsh University 77-64.
The Pumas are averaging 69.3 points per game and are led in scoring by Jasmyne Reynolds with 18.7 per game. Kiki Lyons and Tonisha Sanders are averaging 12.7 and 10.0 points per contest respectively. Reynolds also leads the team in rebounding with five boards per contest while Sanders and Laura Furrer are averaging 4.6 rebounds per game.
