The Lady Miners used a 9-0 run five of which came from Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) to take a 43-40 lead at the halfway point of the second half. The Hawks stayed in the game due to its free throw shooting going 8-for-9 at the foul line during the first 15 minutes of the second half.

S&T was unable to slam the door shut on Rockhurst though as it responded with seven straight points to cut the deficit to three points more than a minute later. The Lady Miners stretched the lead back to six points, but the Hawks refused to go away and retook the lead on a long three-pointer from the right wing by Hart with 0:42 left. S&T tied the game on the ensuing possession as Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) was fouled on a drive to the basket and hit both foul shots with 0:29 remaining.
