Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's offense was held in check by Drury pitching throughout the afternoon Tuesday, as the Panthers blanked the Miners in both games of their Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at the S&T Baseball Field.

Drury took the first game 9-0 and the nightcap by a 6-0 count, breaking both games open in the late innings to drop the Miners to 8-14 overall and to the .500 mark in GLVC play at 7-7.

In the opener, the Miners got a pair of runners on base in the opening inning against Drury starter Kevin Sweeney on a hit by Michael Lockett (O'Fallon, Mo./Timberland) and when Will Morrison (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) reached on an error, but Sweeney got a strikeout to end the inning.  The Panthers broke on top when they came to bat in the second, scoring on Payton Reed's RBI double with two outs.

Drury added a run in the third and put two more on the scoreboard in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead, then added runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings for the final margin.

The Miners were outhit 12-7 in the opener, with Reed Brown (Rogers, Ark./Heritage) and Michael Boxell (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North) getting two hits apiece.  Eric Van Dyke (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) pitched the first 6 1/3 innings for S&T and took the loss on the mound.

The nightcap saw Drury get the lead in the opening inning against Nolan Korn (Cedar Hill, Mo./Northwest), as Colton Jones opened the contest with a double and scored on Caleb Cole's infield out.  S&T, meanwhile, continued to get runners on base but couldn't get the key hit it needed to bring those runners home; it had a runner at third with two outs in the first and again in the third, but the Panthers were able to escape both times.  

Drury extended its lead in the sixth after Matt Borgschulte led off with a triple and scored when John Neill hit a high chopper to first.  The Panthers (18-8, 9-3 GLVC) would add another run in the sixth and Borgschulte hit a three-run homer in the seventh to double the Panther lead.

Tyler Bodenstab (Independence, Mo./Truman) and Colin Coan (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./South St. Paul) had two hits apiece for S&T to account for all four Miner hits in the nightcap.  Lockett, who had a hit in game one, was held without a hit in the nightcap as his hitting streak ended at 15 games.

The Miners return to action Saturday when they open a four-game weekend series at Maryville with a doubleheader starting at noon.
