(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T volleyball team begins its quest for a Great Lake Valley Conference championship on Friday afternoon against Indianapolis at 12 p.m. in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.
This is the second meeting of the season between the Miners and Greyhounds. S&T won the earlier meeting this season sweeping UIndy 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-18) back on Sept. 21 in Rolla.
The 'Hounds, seeded second in the East, enter the tournament winners of seven straight contests while the Miners, seeded third in the West, have won two in a row.
UIndy has an attack percentage of .216 (1562k/628e/4325ta) while its opponents are hitting .175 (1398k/643e/4315ta). The Greyhounds are averaging nearly 13.7 kills per set and are led by Hailey Brown with 347 kills and Kenzie Bruggeman with 320. Brittany Anglemeyer has recorded 296 kills while Julia Watkins and Becca Lira have 199 and 179 respectively. Meghan Binkerd is averaging 11.24 sets/assist while Bruggeman has dug up 358 balls off the floor.
The winner will face the winner of the Rockhurst-Bellarmine match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
