Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team went 90 minutes and beyond Sunday to snap a three-game winless streak, as Ryan Lawhead (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) scored 5:44 into overtime to give the Miners a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Missouri-St. Louis.

Lawhead scored the game-winner – S&T's third overtime win of the season -- when he headed in Diego Robayo (Snohomish, Wash./Snohomish)'s corner kick in an overtime period that the Miners controlled much in the same manner as they did the first half of Sunday's game.

The Miners outshot the Tritons 12-2 in the opening half and peppered the Triton goal during the early minutes of the contest.  Moments after Brian Seawright (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) had a shot blocked, he got a cross from Joe Macke (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central HS) and put a shot into the right corner of the goal at the 15:46 mark to put the Miners in front.

S&T had another good chance about three minutes later when Robayo hit the crossbar with an attempt and ended up taking the 1-0 lead to the intermission.

UMSL tied the game on its second shot of the second half, when Matt Burrus redirected a free kick past S&T goalkeeper Matt Jackson (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) with 34:15 to play.  Both teams would have opportunities for the go-ahead goal in the final 10 minutes of regulation time, but UMSL's Nick Lenkman stopped a try by Robayo with 6:12 left and Jackson turned away a shot by Jon Huelsman at the 86:16 mark.

S&T finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots and had five shots on goal as did the Tritons (4-6, 3-5 GLVC).  Jackson finished with four saves in goal for the Miners, who improved to 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in league play.  Four of S&T's five wins this season have been one-goal victories.

The Miners return home for a weekend GLVC set beginning Friday when they face conference newcomer Truman State in a 7:30 p.m. game.
