Box Score (St. Louis, Mo.) The Missouri S&T Lady Miners scored the first eight points of the second half extending a six-point halftime lead to 14 points early in the half and didn't look back en route to a 67-55 win at Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday evening. It's
S&T's fifth straight win in the series and 14th in their last 15 meetings.

It wasn't a pretty start for S&T (16-6, 10-4 GLVC) as it fell behind the Tritons (9-13, 4-10 GLVC) 6-2 in the early going. Kiki Robinson led the charge for UMSL scoring four of their first six points.

The Lady Miners then ran off 10 straight to taking a 12-6 lead on a pair of free throws by Hailee Parks (Sullivan, Mo./Sullivan) with 10:27 to play in the half. The lead grew to 17-10 nearly three minutes later as Quintonia Evans (Evansville, Ind./) hit a pair of free throws.

S&T then went cold from the floor not scoring for 3:30, but thankfully UMSL wasn't scoring either during that stretch.
Phoebe Robertson's three brought the Tritons back within a basket at 17-15 with 4:50 to play, but on the ensuing possession Katelyn Heil (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) converted on an old-fashioned three-point play extending the lead back to 20-15.

The Lady Miners pushed the lead back out to five on two different occasions but each time UMSL hand answered with a bucket of their own.

Kaitlin Sweatman's jumper with 0:31 left in the half made it 24-21, but Julie Meyer (Marthasville, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) buried a three from the right corner was the clock wound down sending S&T into the locker room with a 27-21 lead at the break.

Both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the opening stanza as the Lady Miners were 9-for-24 (37.5 percent) while the Tritons were 10-of-32 (31.3 percent).  S&T went to the foul line 10 times and made seven of those while UMSL didn't attempt a foul shot. The Lady Miners were 2-for-6 from downtown and UMSL was 1-of-9. S&T also had the edge on the glass 23-16.

Heil led S&T with five points in the first half. Kyesha Hall (Dodson, La./), Parks and Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) had four each.
Robinson had six to lead the Tritons. Sweatman and Shayelle Dominguez had four apiece.

The Lady Miners started the second stanza scoring the first eight points to extend their halftime lead to 14 points just over two minutes into the frame. They made six of their first nine field goal attempts to start the half.

UMSL cut the lead to 36-27, but S&T responded with four straight to push the lead back to double digits.

The two sides traded basket for basket for about a seven minute stretch until the Tritons scored five straight to make it 58-50 on another Robertson three with 5:02 to play.

S&T answered with seven straight points over the next three minutes to build its biggest lead of the game at 65-50 on a fastbreak layup from Courtney Kemp (Fredricktown, Mo./Fredricktown) with 2:13 to play.

The Tritons got as close as 10 late but the Lady Miners made their free throws to close out the win.

S&T shot 60 percent (15-of-25) in the second half to finish the contest at 49 percent from the floor. It was also 16-for-23 at the foul line in the contest. It also outrebounded UMSL by a 40-28 margin.

Hall led the Lady Miners with 14 points matching her career-high. Meyer dropped in 11 while Kemp had nine points and Taylor Jensen (Farmington, Mo./Farmington) and Parks added eight apiece.

The Tritons shot 44 percent in the second half to raise their shooting percentage to 37 percent (21-of-57). They were 5-for-15 from downtown. Caitlyn Moody led them with 12 points while Robertson added eight. Robinson and Shayelle Dominguez had six apiece.

S&T returns to action on Saturday afternoon taking on Maryville in St. Louis at 1 p.m.
