ROLLA, Mo. –
Alyson Smith (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) finished in 15
th place overall on Saturday morning, pacing the Missouri S&T women's cross country team to a seventh place finish at the Jackling Jocks Invitational at the S&T Golf Course.
Smith covered the five-kilometer course in 18:34, finishing a little over 40 seconds behind race winner Jess Connery of William Jewell. Smith was followed among the Lady Miner finishers by
Mindy Lake (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa), who recorded a time of 20:05 to finish 42nd, while
Rachel Feist (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) was 43
rd in 20:12.
S&T's next two scorers were
Allie Wood (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) in 44
th place in 20:13 and
Diane Strong (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) in 49
th in 20:39, while
Madalyn Elliott (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) finished 50
th in 20:48 and
Codee Pedersen (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) in 52
nd in 21:01.
Connery had a winning time of 17:48 for the Cardinals to edge Drury's Erin Dolan by three seconds and Southwest Baptist's Ashley Wolkomir by five. SBU won the team competition by 11 points over Pittsburg State and 12 over Missouri Southern.
S&T will compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 20 in Springfield, Mo.
