Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team wrapped up its season in grand fashion Wednesday night by blanking 17th-ranked Drury 2-0.

The Miners scored their goals late in each half, with seniors Kyle Schraier (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College ) and Peter Vaccaro (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West ) -- two of 10 seniors playing their final game in a Miner uniform -- getting the tallies.  Schraier broke the scoreless deadlock with 3:18 remaining in the first half as he took a feed from E.J. Zembas (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) and scored from seven yards away.

The Panthers, who were in first place in the GLVC as recently as Friday, began to put pressure on the Miners during the second half.  S&T goalkeeper Matt Jackson (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) turned away shots by Matt Hutchison and Brett Steere in the 80th minute to keep the Miners in front, then the Miners iced the game with under three minutes left.

Moments after Drury's Mike Lee received a yellow card, Carlos Gomez (Madrid, Spain/Nuestra Sra Del Recurerdo) fed Vaccaro for a shot that he converted from 17 yards away to extend the Miner lead to 2-0 with just 2:33 to go.  The Panthers got only one shot over the remaining time as the Miners finished their season with a record of 8-6-2 overall and 7-6-1 in the GLVC.

As play began around the GLVC Wednesday, S&T held a mathematical chance of making the conference tournament but was eliminated as a result of Lewis' 3-0 win at Wisconsin-Parkside earlier in the day.  Nonetheless, the Miners – who outshot Drury 17-15 for the game – were able to record their fifth victory over a nationally-ranked team during the four years that the current senior class has been in the program.

Jackson made seven saves in goal for the Miners in the victory that dropped the Panthers to the third seed in the upcoming tournament.  Drury is 12-3-2 overall and finished10-3-2 in GLVC play.
