KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State scored goals in each half of Friday's game and went on to defeat Missouri S&T
2-0 in men's soccer action, handing the Miners their second straight loss in the process.
The Miners, who stepped outside of Great Lakes Valley Conference play for the first time this season Friday – not counting a game with Harding that was halted after 35 minutes -- had some early chances to get on the scoreboard which included three corner kicks in the first 17 minutes.
However, the Bulldogs counterattacked after turning away the third corner and turned it into the first goal of the game. Matt Kimball notched the first goal of the game at the 17:36 mark, giving the Bulldogs a lead they would take to halftime.
Truman State added to its lead in a wide open second half – one where a combined 27 shots were taken by the two teams – when Robbie Narrow hit a shot that deflected off an S&T defender into the bottom corner of the net.
The Bulldogs outshot the Miners 22-20 for the game, while the Miners had 10 corner kicks to Truman's one. S&T goalkeeper
Donny Gesell (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles West) was credited with 12 saves in goal.
Missouri S&T (2-2-2) will return to conference play Sunday when it plays Drury in a noon contest in Springfield, Mo.
