Box Score The Missouri S&T Lady Miners suffered its worst home defeat since 2003 and shot a season low 32 percent in a 78-55 loss to Quincy on Sunday afternoon in Rolla. The 55 points were the fewest at home since beating Missouri-St. Louis 53-52 in 2006.

S&T turned the ball over 22 times in the contest which Quincy turned into 30 points and the Hawks had a 49-38 advantage on the glass allowing them to outscore the Lady Miners in second chance points 14-1.

The game did not get off to a great start for S&T (7-4, 1-2 GLVC) who fell behind 5-0 in the first 0:50 and trailed by as many as eight points before settling in and began chipping away at the lead eventually tying the game at 18-18 on a pair of free throws by Tamara McCaskill.

The Hawks (11-3, 3-1 GLVC) regained the lead on a jumper by Jessica Keller and built a six point advantage by the 5:52 mark on a free throw by Jessica Vaughn. Kylee Grant (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) cut the lead to three with a three-pointer only 0:13 later but that would be the closest S&T would get as QU went on a 16-4 run over the final 5:25 getting half of those points from Keller to build a 42-27 halftime advantage.

The Hawks shot the ball well in the frame connecting on 45 percent (17-of-38) from the floor while holding the Lady Miners to just 10-for-33 shooting (30.3 percent). Quincy turned 10 S&T turnovers into 18 points and had 10 second chance points to build its big halftime lead.

S&T cut the deficit to 11 on a couple of different occasions early in the second frame before a 9-0 run by the Hawks pushed the lead to 53-33 a little over five minutes in. Quincy eventually built its lead to 31 points by the 7:27 mark before the Lady Miners began chipping away at the deficit eventually getting it down to 23 with 0:11 left on a three pointer by Lydia Karlefors (Sunderbyn, Sweden/Lulea Basketgymnasium).

Keller had a game-high 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting to lead three Hawks players in double figures. Janette Burgin had 11 and Courtney Shuman finished with 11.

McCakill led S&T in scoring with 19 points. Katie McElrath (Owasso, Okla./Owasso) had eight and Lauren Dubbert (Madison, Mo./Madison) finished with six.

The Lady Miners head onto the road for the first time this season in GLVC play heading up to Lewis to take on the Flyers on Thursday night beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
