Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T Lady Miners were unable to cash in on some missed opportunities in a 78-71 loss to 19th ranked Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon at Billy Key Court.

The game did not get off to a good start for S&T (8-7, 2-5 GLVC) as it turned the ball over four times and missed a shot in its first five possessions allowing Indianapolis (17-3, 6-2 GLVC) to run off seven straight to start the contest. The Lady Miners finally got on the scoreboard on a lay-up by Lauren Dubbert (Madison, Mo./Madison) at the 16:46 mark.

They would cut the deficit to three early but an old fashioned three-point play by Isabell Rhenwrick pushed the advantage back to six. The Greyhounds led by a balance of six for most of the half before S&T went on a 6-0 run in a span of three minutes to tie the game at 32-32 with 1:08 to play.

Indianapolis though was able to take advantage of couple offensive rebounds to regain the lead and then stretched the lead to 36-32 on a jumper by Jessica Canary at the halftime buzzer.

Each team shot the ball at over a 50 percent clip in the frame but the Greyhounds were able to take advantage 13 Lady Miner turnovers turning it into 13 points while S&T was only able to muster four off of 12 UINDY miscues. Indianapolis also had a 26-16 advantage in the paint.

The second half started the same way as the first one did as the Greyhounds scored the first five points of the frame building their lead to 41-32 just 1:31 in. Tamara McCaskill closed the gap to six with a three but Indy responded with an 8-0 run pushing the advantage to double digits by the 15:00 mark.

S&T cut the deficit to 10 on a jumper by McCaskill but another 5-0 spurt pushed the deficit back to 15 a short time later. Indy was able to hold its double digit lead until the Lady Miners began chipping away at the lead with a pair of free throws by Jazmine Bell (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) at the 7:31 mark.

S&T's defense began to stiffen holding the Greyhounds without a point for nearly four minutes but turned it over a couple of times and was just 1-for-3 from the floor and made only one of its three free throw attempts.

After a made free throw by Sarah Fenneman and lay-up by Heather Rourk pushed the lead back to nine Dubbert scored the next five points cutting the lead to six with 2:47 to play. But Indianapolis, who was only 3-for-20 from downtown, got a three-pointer from Rourke just 0:18 later to extend it back to nine point game.

From there though the Lady Miners were forced to trade points in the final two minutes as the Greyhounds made 8-of-10 at the foul line in the final minute and S&T wasn't able to get any closer than six the rest of the way.

They finished the game shooting 23-of-49 (47 percent) but were only 68 percent at the line (21-for-31).
