9/2/2026 12:07:00 PM

ROLLA, Mo. - Following a 3-2 victory over Missouri Southern on Sunday afternoon, Missouri S&T women's soccer will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday when it hosts Upper Iowa at the S&T Soccer Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Miners enter Friday's contest with a 1-1 record after splitting their first two matches of the season. S&T opened the year with a 1-0 setback against Central Missouri on Aug. 27 before bouncing back with a 3-2 victory over Missouri Southern three days later.

Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) stood out offensively against Missouri Southern, scoring two goals. Benassi was also honored with GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Monday, Aug. 31.

Upper Iowa enters Friday's contest with a 0-0-2 record after opening the season with back-to-back ties. The Peacocks played Roosevelt to a 2-2 draw on Aug. 27 before finishing with a 1-1 tie against Southwest Minnesota State on Aug. 30.

The Peacocks return 13 players from last season's squad while adding 17 newcomers, including 16 freshmen. Nine returning players logged at least 800 minutes during the 2025 season.

Friday's contest will mark the first GLVC match of the season for both teams. Upper Iowa is entering its first conference season in the GLVC and will begin league play against the Miners before traveling to No. 9 Missouri-St. Louis on Sept. 9.

Following Friday's matchup, S&T will remain on the road for its next two contests, traveling to William Jewell on Sept. 9 and Quincy on Sept. 12.
