JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri S&T scored in five different innings, including a late surge to take the lead, but a big seventh inning from Lincoln proved to be the difference as the Miners fell 16-10 in Saturday's regular season finale.
After falling behind early, the Miners answered in the second inning with three runs. A sacrifice fly from Brennon Wibbenmeyer (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) opened the scoring, before Tyler Bizzle (Festus, MO/Festus) delivered a two-RBI single to even the game at 3-3.
S&T added a run in the fourth when Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) singled home a run following a Lincoln throwing error. In the sixth, the Miners tied the game at 5-5 as Bizzle drove in Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) with a double to left.
The Miners' biggest offensive inning came in the seventh. After loading the bases via a single and two hit-by-pitches, Beckham launched a go-ahead grand slam to right-center, putting S&T in front 9-5. Lincoln's response in the bottom of the inning would be the decisive turning point of the contest, with the Blue Tigers scoring eleven runs on six hits including a grand slam to take a 16-9 lead.
Missouri S&T added one more run in the eighth, as Denton Damgaard (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) singled home Baugus after a leadoff walk and stolen base, ultimately falling 16-10 to the Blue Tigers.
Bizzle led the way with four hits and three RBIs, while Beckham drove in four runs on his seventh-inning home run.
