Miners Dominate Rockhurst on Senior Day with Run-Rule Sweep; Miller Throws No-Hitter in Game Two

ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T softball delivered a statement performance on Senior Day, sweeping Rockhurst in GLVC play with a 10-1 victory in game one and an 8-0 win in game two, both ending in five innings at the S&T Softball Field.

With the sweep, the Miners improve to 33-15 overall and 20-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, continuing their strong push into the postseason.

Game 1 – Missouri S&T 10, Rockhurst 1 (5 Inn.)
Missouri S&T wasted no time asserting control in the opener, using early power and a decisive fourth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/Basha) put the Miners on the board in emphatic fashion in the first inning, launching a grand slam to right field to give Missouri S&T a 4-0 lead. Rockhurst answered with a run, but the Miners continued to apply pressure offensively throughout the game.

Missouri S&T broke the game open in the fourth inning, plating six runs on a combination of timely hitting and disciplined at-bats. Ty Neal (Enid, OK/Kremlin-Hilldale) started the rally with an RBI single before Taylor Nelson (Hailey, ID/Phillips Exeter Academy) delivered another grand slam, this time to center field, to extend the lead. Thompson followed with an RBI double to cap the inning and push the Miners into run-rule territory.

Thompson led the offense with five RBI on a 2-for-3 performance, while Nelson added four RBI and two stolen bases. Claire Lopez (Olathe, KS/Olathe Northwest) worked two walks as part of a seven-walk performance by the Miners, who consistently forced Rockhurst into tough situations at the plate.

In the circle, AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X) was efficient and steady, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out two to earn the win.

Game 2 – Missouri S&T 8, Rockhurst 0 (5 Inn.)
Missouri S&T carried that momentum into game two, combining clutch hitting with dominant pitching to complete the sweep.

The Miners struck first in the opening inning when Molly Fitzgerald (Crystal Lake, IL/Marian Central Catholic) doubled to bring home a run, setting the tone for another strong offensive performance. Fitzgerald added another RBI double in the third inning to extend the lead to 2-0 as Missouri S&T continued to build pressure.

The game broke open in the fifth inning, when the Miners scored six runs to seal the run-rule victory. Fitzgerald highlighted the inning with a two-run home run to center field, finishing the game with four RBI on a 3-for-3 performance. Keira Jones (Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill) drove in a run after being hit by a pitch, while Lopez added an RBI single and Nelson brought in two more runs to cap the scoring.

Lopez collected two hits, and the Miners again showed patience at the plate with four walks while playing a clean defensive game without committing an error.

In the circle, Mia Miller (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) delivered a dominant performance, throwing a five-inning no-hitter while striking out four and walking two. Miller controlled the game from start to finish, keeping Rockhurst off balance and never allowing a base runner via hit.
