PERU, Ind. -- Missouri S&T Men's Golf will be competing at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championships this week as they look to defend their title from a year ago. Stroke play will begin on Wednesday morning, with the top four teams advancing to match play on Friday to determine the team champion.
The Miners enter the GLVC Championships as the second-highest rated team in the conference according to Scoreboard, ranking 45th in the country. They sit just one spot behind Missouri-St. Louis in the national and regional rankings, just .08 points behind the Tritons according to Scoreboard's point system.
S&T claims two of the top three individuals that will be competing at the Championships, with
Rizq Adam Rohizam (Selangor, Malaysia/Robert Louis Stevenson) being the highest rated competitor at the event while
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) ranks third. Meanwhile, the Tritons have four individuals in the top 17 for the Midwest conference, with Logan Mayo leading the way as the runner-up favorite this week.
About the GLVC Championships
The GLVC Championship features a 54-hole stroke play event where the individual medalist will be awarded. The top-four teams after stroke play then compete in medal/match play to determine the team champion. A total of 36 holes are played on Wednesday, April 22, followed by 18 holes on Thursday, April 23. The semifinals and finals of match play will take place on Friday, April 24.
What's Next
The Miners are in prime position to make the NCAA Regional Championships, with competition taking place in Big Rapids, Michigan on May 7-9.
